OUR HISTORY OUR MISSION To represent our clients to the top-rated insurance carriers, in an effort to help them acquire the proper insurance coverage tailored to their specific needs. To provide the highest level of customer service to our clients by taking responsibility for all claims and service related issues. Our clients do not call the insurance carriers for customer service, they call us. OUR HISTORY Brown & Knapp was established in 1980. The firm initially concentrated on the design and implementation of selective pick and choose benefit programs and business continuity planning. A computer department was formed to create a unique option for plan design and servicing. In 1986 the business expanded into the estate planning area. A team approach with attorneys and accountants allowed our clients to implement creative asset preservation programs. In 1990 Brown & Knapp designed and implemented the first portable, long term disability program for medical students and residents who were concerned about limited insurability issues if they contracted HIV, hepatitis, etc. At this time our Philadelphia office was opened. Approximately 850 new medical students and residents enter this plan each year. In 1995 Brown & Knapp Group Benefits, LLC was established to assist our existing and new clients in the group health, life and disability insurance markets. Our primary goal has been to provide service that could not consistently be gotten from outside sources. In 1995 a relationship was formed with Marchetti, Brown & Bishop to open a branch of their property and casualty business in our Branford office. This firm has an outstanding reputation in both the business and personal insurance markets.
